# DPDP for hotels: guest rights need an operations workflow, not just an email inbox

Guest rights only work when front office, reservations, marketing, and vendors know who owns the request.

## The issue

The DPDP Act gives data principals rights such as access to information, correction, erasure, grievance redressal, withdrawal of consent, and nomination. In hospitality, a guest may not know whether her data sits with the hotel, brand operator, booking platform, loyalty provider, PMS vendor, or marketing tool.

A privacy mailbox alone is not enough if no one knows how to verify the request, locate records, involve vendors, and respond consistently.

## What hotels should do

Create a guest rights workflow with owners and timelines. The front desk should know where to route a request. Marketing should know how to honour withdrawal. Reservations should know what can be corrected. Finance should know what cannot be erased because of tax or legal retention.

Keep a request log. Track request type, identity verification, systems checked, vendors contacted, response date, and outcome. This record becomes evidence of discipline if a complaint reaches a regulator.

## Why it is important worldwide

Access and deletion rights are now familiar across GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and many new privacy laws. Global travellers increasingly expect a brand to answer data questions without confusion. A hotel that handles rights smoothly signals operational maturity.

For TVshuru deployments, support pages and QR-linked privacy flows can route guests to the right channel without forcing staff to improvise.
